<i>allodb</i> : An R package for biomass estimation at globally distributed extratropical forest plots

Allometric equations for calculation of tree above-ground biomass (AGB) form the basis estimates forest carbon storage and exchange with atmosphere. While standard models exist to calculate across tropics, we lack a standardized tool computing AGB boreal temperate regions that comprise global extratropics. Here present an integrated R package, allodb, containing systematically selected published allometric proposed functions compute AGB. The data component package is based on 701 woody species identified at 24 large Forest Global Earth Observatory (ForestGEO) dynamics plots representing wide diversity extratropical forests. A total 570 parsed estimate individual were retrieved, checked combined using weighting function designed ensure optimal equation selection over full size range smooth transitions equations. dataset can be customized built-in subset original add new Although curated limited set communities number species, this resource appropriate portions extratropics easily expanded cover novel types.
